"Executive Search. Is it worth it?"
September 2007

David Nosal, Nosal Partners

Companies spend hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars each year on Executive Search. Is it worth it? Given the talent shortages facing most organizations, it is very difficult to avoid search, even if your experience is less than ideal. We have all had experiences where a search went bad: few qualified candidates, a long and difficult timeframe, a poor hire that did not live up to expectations, quick turnover - only to start again. Why is something that is so important to a company's success so difficult?

David Nosal, of Nosal Partners, will share his experience about how to make the Executive Search process a success for you and your organization. David brings more than 20 years of experience in supporting major organizations and Boards of Directors as they try to fill critical leadership roles from CEOs to CFOs, Board Members, functional leaders, division leaders, and other C-Level executives. David has seen the best and the worst of search and he knows the critical role an excellent search partner can play in helping an organization meet its talent needs. In 2006, David started his own firm in order to do search differently because he too believes the search industry has many difficult challenges.

In this session, David will share his experiences in placing key executive talent into critical jobs. He will discuss the role of the Board of Directors, Human Resources, and other Executives in making the process work. Additionally, David will share what he thinks is wrong with the industry and how HR, as consumers of Executive Search, can ask better questions and help ensure that the search partners they hire will really be able to deliver.
