A talent community is touted as the holy grail of recruiting and Web 2.0. The concept is written about, discussed, and alluded to by industry pundits. Yet, the landscape is barren with examples of actual work being done in this area; especially at large organizations like Microsoft. The presenter - Marvin Smith, Director of Talent Communities at Microsoft, will discuss his experiences and successes in developing such communities. Mr. Smith has led the initiative to evangelize Microsoft's "brands" to target talent audiences (hardware, software, music, video, et al) and employed Web 2.0 mythologies to create community with staffing, the hiring teams and the target talent.
